Blenheim Society Website and Facebook Group.

For those of you interested in being kept informed of all things Blenheim, The Blenheim Society have a Facebook Page at https://www.facebook.com/groups/216349751762692/

Their website is at http://www.blenheimsociety.org.uk/

The team of volunteers, with a lot of support from ARC have invested thousands of hours on the current restoration to short nose Blenheim configuration. Due to fly during 2014, Duxford’s Blenheim appears structurally complete with detailed systems work remaining.

The nose of the Mk IV has returned to hangar 3 having been away on loan.

The engineering work undertaken to switch from the IV to the short nose is significant. Those keen to learn more, can become members of the Blenheim Society (details on the website) wherein they have access to the huge knowledge of the likes of Tony Lowe and John ‘Smudge’ Smith. The Blenheim Society’s published periodicals contain news and stories relating squadrons, crews and aircraft as well as updates from the Engineering Team on the restoration to flight.

Its great to know that the Blenheim will be flying again this year.

Why do some Mk 1 Blenheims have a completely clear nose whereas others, like this restoration, have solid panels in front of the pilot? Was it changed in the light of experience for later production batches – or was it to do with their role?
