The other Pfalz is in California with Javier Arango according to a book on World War One aeroplane that I once read.

We had a thread on this a while back, I seem to recall…

Thanks for that Daz … it all comes back now (without having to clamber into the attic and rifle through boxes for old copies of AirPic)!
I think Reims Aviation built the Fokker D.VIIs.

There were two, one built by the Hampshire School of Flying, and the other by Bianchi. The latter was modified Tiger Moth components, while the former was scratch-built, designed by Ray Hilborne.

Is it my memory failing/working overtime … but I seem to recall that of the two Pfalz replicas one had a plywood monocoque fuselage (Reims Aviation??) and the other was built around a Tiger Moth steel tube fuselage (Bianchi??). The monococque replica tended to suffer from excessive flexing in flight.

Hello Eric,
Any idea which Pfalz this is ,there were two at Baldonnel for the making of the Blue Max and registered EI-ARC ex G-ATIF and EI-ARD ex G-ATIJ. First time I ever heard that Peppard flew any of the aircraft.

Not today, I’m afraid. I will have to do a search first in my slide boxes to find the correct set.
The planes were put on static display at two airshows held at the Powerscourt Estate in 1977 and 1978. As it was not too far from where I lived, my friends and I took local buses (too poor for cars in those days) to the estate for the airshows. The estate was, for a long time, owned by the Slazenger family (of sports wear fame etc) and they operated a private strip in the estate grounds. A number of other Blue Max planes were displayed along with the Pfalz (an SE5A replica and a Caudron if I remember correctly).

Any chance of posting them up??

I have some slides I took of this aeroplane dating from 1978 when it was living at the Powerscourt Estate in Co. Wicklow. Nice to see it alive again.

Wow! Looks really nice – and in her “original” markings, too.
Funny, we were on about George Peppard flying in the movie some time ago – didn’t think he did
