The curse of the clueless.
Stephen, when are you going to realise that a film is not a history lesson. The sound guys obviously came to the conclusion that the original engine sounds were not suitable for todays cinema-going public, who demand loadsa bangs for their bucks.I bow to your greater knowledge if indeed they did use Harvard sound bytes, but the average movie-goer wouldn’t know the difference and certainly would not detract from their enjoyment.Did you expect Spielberg to use authentic T-Rex roars and where do you think King Kongs “voice” came from.Todays sound guys are worth their weight in gold and can make or break a movie. Please post your review of Flyboys in the Last Film You Saw on GD:cool:

Good laugh, and well done, but are you sure it ain’t Stukas as well as Harvards, sure they’re in there somewhere, just trying to spot those cranked wings.

I must dig out the video clip I had at work. Hercules conducting parachute trials at Larkhill range with the Boscombe Harvard doing what it does best – photo chase. Guess what? all you can hear on the video is the Harvard, which wasn’t in shot.
I also remember the time I was inside the Herc cargo hold wearing a headset listening to the intercomm, we were flying out to the range with the Harvard in echelo. As we turned I heard quite clearly…… the Harvard! 😮
Oh dear, missing the point or what:rolleyes:

It just shows how good Flyboys might have been if they’d stuck with the wealth of material their aerial unit shot and hadn’t gone into cgi overload when they got back to the USA!

I’m still having a great deal of trouble trying to spot the harvards that I keep hearing throughout this clip.
