Blue Wings (Germany) grounded.

Translated from Dutch:

http://www.luchtvaartnieuws.nl/news/?id=30135

DÜSSELDORF – Blue Wings, based at Düsseldorf airport, has had it’s flight license cancelled. The German aviation autorities, the LBA, have not extended the airline’s temporary license that was valid till march 31st. According to the LBA Blue Wings was not able to prove that their financial position had improved since the beginning of 2009.

In january their permanent license was changed into a temporary license, because of Blue Wings financial difficulties.

Now that their license is no longer valid, the airline’s entire fleet is grounded. Normally Blue Wings operates 10 A320s, with a further 20 awaiting delivery from a order placed in 2006 .

Blue Wings only recently started a new flights between Düsseldorf and Karaganda (Kazachstan). The airline flew for various tour operators mostly to destinations in Turkey and Russia.

Saw 5 of the 7 stored there – so if anybody knows all 7 the missing one would be useful. Saw D-ANNB,D,E,F&I. It was 2 in the cargo area that could not be read off. Wx was not the best but was still a good couple of days. I think a fellow forum member (Deano) was the co-pilot on the outbound trip (BE1985 SOU-DUS)

Tenthje, thanks for that info – I should see some after all. Arrive mid evening from Southampton today and leave Sunday evening – Hope the weather stays good.

The saturday is not looking particularly well, the sunday is however. For what it’s worth, Frankfurt is expected to have pretty good weather on saturday so you might want to try your look with the train to FRA.

edit: *you’ve got a PM*

Am off to Dusseldorf tomorrow and was hoping to see some of those – not so sure if they will be parked there or elsewhere.

According to a post at the German language www.dusforum.de there are seven A320s stored at Düsseldorf. That post was made 31MAR so I would not think much has changed. Don’t know where they are parked at the airport, but they should at least be visible if not photographable.

Weather tomorrow will be fantastic. Expect wind from the SE so the terminal platform will be best. Don’t bother with the railway station unless there is something interesting parked next to it (like, say, 7 Blue Wings A320s). From the station the planes will be too high up in their climb to get nice pictures.

The Latest: Germany’s Federal Aviation Agency (LBA) has revoked Blue Wings’ operational approval, effective immediately. For the moment, Blue Wings is suspending its airline operations. The LBA based its ruling on an evaluation that the firm does not have enough assets to ensure its long term viability. The LBA’s contention relates solely to its evaluation of our economic viability. We fully guarantee the safety of our operation, and the LBA has never called this into question.

Blue Wings is doing everything possible to secure the necessary proofs of economic viability within the next few days, so as to regain our operational approval as quickly as possible.

We thank you for your faith in us; we expect to be flying for you again shortly.
