Two Dutch F16s where scrambled from Twenthe AB today to intercept an unknown plane that approached the Dutch border from Germany. The plane turned out not to be another German invasion (it’s been 60 years now so another one is long overdue), but an British Mediterranean Airways A320 going from Amman to London.
The airliner failed to make radio contact with ATC at Maastricht (probably Eurocontrol).

While probably pilot error there is a phenomenon with VHF frequencies known as PLOC (prolonged loss of communication) currently under investigation where aircraft normally capable of receiving (within line of sight) do not.
