I have heard rumours lately that bmi are replacing their A321 fleet with A319/A320 models. Can anyone confirm this? Apparantly Delta Alpha and Delta Foxtrot are going to THY next month.

Not really, they arent making any money on the 321 fleet as they cant fill the seats on it.

Thats silly is’nt it they are swapping a bigger aeroplane for two smaller ones anyone agree

The A321 doesn’t appear to be as successful as it’s counterpart from the Boeing stable

Just out of curiosity, has British Midland operated the A320 or A321 out of East Midlands in the past and if so, on what routes?

Well the A321s are going strong in DUB with no other aircraft scheduled to operate on the route for the next month or so. bmi currently overnight 2 A321s in DUB every friday night.
That’s good to know that the Dublin route is still going strong…

Ref BMI Charters at BFS
Yes! BMI are operating Summer charters from BFS again this year.
They are operating from the end of Jun to the start of Sep.
Mon – ACE+LPA
Tue – ALC+HER
Wed – PFO
Thu – AGP (WW pattern routing BFS-AGP-BHD-AGP-BFS)
Fri – TFS+DLM
Sat – FUE+PMI
Sun – REU+IBZ+AGP
Should be operated by A321 like last year.
However can the A321 manage a full load to AGP from BHD’s runway.

By: RhysD - 20th January 2006 at 23:03

DE is joining Monarch in April
If Delta Echo is going aswell, that only leaves five aircraft. That’s not enough to operate three routes with two A321s each. What are the chances of the remaining aircraft being used on routes to Continental Europe?

Belfast will def keep them. I Know i wont miss DH 😀 its used too often for my liking on the Belfast City route and has prevented me from being on all the A321 fleet 🙁

According to Jethro’s site, Delta Hotel and Delta India are being returned to their lessors in March of this year. The A321 fleet will then stand at six aircraft. Does anyone know the fate of the above two aircraft and also what routes the remaining six will be rostered on? I’m pretty sure they’ll keep one or two for the Dublin route 😉

Most Aer Lingus flights if not all are packed all the time. This was the last route I flew on and it was perfect except for the 3 hour delay but the 3 hour delay was better than what the last bmi flight to DUB that night had.
Most PAX on that route are connecting onto Star or One World flights so thats basically why they are full.
With bmi ridding free drinks etc they wont be any better than EI who I personally think have gotten better since the LOCO changeover. And plus the EI fares are normally much cheaper with the odd exception.

bmi have no probelms filling thr A321s on the Dublin route.
Doesn’t surprise me when the only other option is Aer Lingus.
