BMI have been granted a number of flights to Madras, presumably to be operated from Manchester or Heathrow, whilst Virgin has recieved some capacity increases, and BA the same, with the addition of Bangalore to its route portfolio. Will update further when I have finished reading the document.

Well MAN-LAS is only x2 weekly in the summer, so that would work

According to someone on this thread, a A330 will do MAN-LAS then go to LHR to do LHR-Mumbai

I can see a new plane entering the BD fleet for sure… question is what
Common sense (and an existing all-Airbus long-haul fleet) would seem to dictate one or more additional A330s.

Without sounding uneducated, what right does the British government (CAA) have to dictate that BA is allowed more flights than BMI?

Can’t see them registering the next long haul aircraft ‘BA for obvious reasons :p
Yeah that’s why they went straight to ‘B 😀

I think all those will be effected by bilaterals, and anyhow, all those destinations are operated from London extensively.

They might do MAN-LHR-BOM?!?
Maybe United Airlines could fly the MAN-IAD route for BMI?
Are UA in the financial postition to launch a new route and city and could they spare an aircraft?
How about 3xweek service from LHR to:
Islamabad
Colombo
Carribean
Canada
Or would bilaterals stop this happening

The BMI LHR-BOM schedule would put a MAN-LHR-BOM arrival into LHR at about the slackest time of the day for the MAN-LHR route in isolation, and I can’t see them operating it from MAN just for MAN-BOM traffic (they’d want to fill it up on the short leg with domestic traffic and that just won’t happen). On the other hand, the BMI schedule is far better timed for connections than is the Virgin operation on the same route. Actually, MAN-IAD might work well for UA, using something like the three class 757s they’ve just introduced on their US domestic trans-cons NYC-LAX and -SFO.

I’m not sure PW powered 757s have the legs for a north atlantic run…. at the very least not was well laden as their RR counterparts
