Helllo,
Just found out bmi are to increase there Manchester – Edinburgh flights to 6 direct flights a day! This all starts 4th Septmeber 2006!
bmi chief executive officer, Nigel Turner said: “Our bmi regional network continues to go from strength to strength. Strong demand due to thriving business, leisure and connecting traffic has necessitated the sixth weekday flight and I’m delighted that we’ve been able to expand our existing operations to provide the extra capacity needed.”
Quoted from here
guessing they are still going to use there Embraer’s on this route.

BD are increasing the EDI – MAN and it will be operated by the SYY aircraft as this route is being axed late July. Also for the chop is LBA – Cork route from 30th June.

I’m currently unsure of what the loads are like, but a B733 is clearly too big for the route, even if they only get 70 pax, that’s a half full B733, but close to 2 fill ERJs, and that’s the problem with Jet2 on the route, the B733 is too big, they’d probably be better concentrating their efforts on other routes in Europe from EDI.
Would make sense to lease another 146 for that route if that’s the case, but I suppose it isn’t as always as simple as that

Suppose it depends on your definition of a rumour. Certainly “rumoured” on the Pilots rumour site 🙂
Would that have been at the time just before the summer timetable was released? 😉
It wouldn’t surprise me given how low the load factors can be- but what do they expect using the B733?- although there have been occasions when the flights have been full.
I can’t see them dropping it before LGW though, I think it’s safe to say that route is doing somewhat worse, they should maybe consider reducing it to 2x daily like the have done to the EDI flights.

Don’t think that has ever been rumoured, there was a time when the summer timetable hadn’t been released that some people started jumping to conclusions

Maybe it ‘ll be enough to get Jet 2 to drop the route as previously rumoured

Just what the route needs… even more capacity!
It could be they are using the aircraft that does the SYY service for this extra MAN flight, as SYY is getting dropped from the end of July I think it is.
