Evening all,
Just wondered if anyone has found any pics of the ATR thats due to start operating the new LBA-LCY service in just over a weeks time? I know there are some pics in Air Antique’s dredful livery lurking out there, but have they put the aircraft into bmi livery yet? I can’t seem to find anything out.
Also, for all you lucky people out there living close to LBA or LCY, there are some very reasonable fares to be had for a day trip on the new route. Fares seem to be starting at £15 each way at the moment (I’m not plugging here, I don’t work for them anymore, honest!).
Cheers!

I don’t believe the the ATR was ever intended to be anything but a stopgap until they sorted out the problems with the EMB135s. Thats why it is only contracted for X number of months.

I had a word with the Captain of my flight back from EDI today (reprt soon) and he said that bmi wanted to get rid of the ATR asap! lol
Doesn’t surprise me bmi-star. They spent so long marketing themselves as being an “all jet fleet” when I was there so it must be dissapointing to have to use an ATR. They always used to think there fleet was the best Regional Jet fleet as it was all jet.
Lets see how long it takes to certify the EMB135 into LCY then shall we?

I was at Air Atlantique on tuesday and did a walk around of G-DRFC which is going to be operating the LBA-LCY route. On tuesday it was still all white but it is going down to Southend in the next few days to be painted in the special promotional livery. I was lucky enough to see the plans for the livery and it looks more like the bmibaby livery than the mainline one. But it’s very colourful. G-IONA is going to stay in Atlantique colours and will be operating the Man-Gla route for bmi.
Interestingly Atlantique say that bmi might have problems operating the aircraft out of LCY in the summer as the engines aren’t powerful enough to get the bird off the deck in the heat.

The aircraft we are using on the LBA-LCY service is G-DRFC, not IONA. FC will fly to Filton on Tuesday for painting into its special livery. It will then position back to Coventry after an air-to-air photo shoot on Friday. Should position up to Leeds on Sunday AM. Having seen the scheme, it should raise one or two eyebrows….
As for our own livery being dreadful, its a darn sight better than some of the cr*p doing the rounds at the moment!
Cheers,
Tom.
