To be announced in the morning.
5 330s make obvious sense.
The 5 321s do not make sense at first glance, as bmi have almost completed the retirement of their current 321 fleet. However I suspect these will be kitted out in a pseudo Long Haul config, and supplement the BMED fleet which was acquired earlier in the year.

Im thinking they will send 2 of them to MAN 3 to LHR, makes sense as these could be where there new long haul routes will start from.
Nah, they’ll all go to London. bmi have wanted to take advantage of open skies from Heathrow ever since the ‘bish came on the scene ie a LONG time.
5 (or 8 depending on whether they decide to keep MAN open at all) A330s still aren’t going to go very far though IMHO.
I think we’ll see them giving Virgin a run for their money rather than BA.
However, as we know, bmi doesnt have the most clued up managers. It will be very interesting to see the press releases in the morning and look for hints of new destinations.

Correct.
Now, which crazy destinations do you think bmi will send the new A330s to.
I think Leeds – Lille is in need of an equipment upgrade…:D
Didnt I tell you this 1.3 years ago? Seems bmi pilots were telling the truth!

I believe BMed had ordered 4 A321s before the takeover by bmi so is it just a re-confirmation of the previously-ordered aircraft?
Correct.

The A321 is order is strange,it would make sense if it was related to BMED,but if it’s a bmi only decision then i can’t understand the phasing out of the original A321’s in the first place:confused:

BMed Orders
I believe BMed had ordered 4 A321s before the takeover by bmi so is it just a re-confirmation of the previously-ordered aircraft? Good news about the A330s. It will give bmi a good chance of developing long-haul services.

I think its a good choice by BMI to purchase these new aircraft with the new routes that are suppose to be in the pipe line. I heard an rumour a while back that they were looking to purchase second hand A340s from Air France wonder if this will happen.

I can’t comment on whether purchasing them makes sense or not, because frankly I have zero interest in the business side of aviation! More superb looking A330’s in the sky is certainly a good thing from a photographic point of view though!
