bmi – Transatlantic Service

Did anybody know that British Midland are operating two transatlantic flights from April 30th? Chicago and somewhere else….sorry, I can’t remember the other!!

They also have four A330s on order, they really are improving.

As far as I know. BMI announced last year that it was going to fly from Manchester (no slots left at Heathrow) to Newark and Chicago. I remember that they also considered other destination in the USA.

i have flown bm from dublin to london several times and have found them to be an excellent airline! the catering was good, and i reciebed a substantial meal each time i flew. it might just be something to do with their caterer at madrid.

I hope they strive a bit more in the transatlantic services than in the European ones. I have flown with them MAD.LHR a couple of times and they were the worst airline ever in the route. Just a tiny salad, in a plastic container for lunch and an ice cream.
Shame on them.

RE: bmi – Transatlantic Service

Hi,

BMI British Midland will begin their 1st transatlantic flights from 18 years, next month (April).
They currently have four A330-200s on order, 2 of which will be operated by BMI themselves, another will be flying for SAS (for 1 year) and the forth won’t be delivered for quite a while.

The flights from Manchester International to Washington & Chicago will be operated on a daily basis and will be code-shared with BMIs’ Star Alliance partner, United Airlines.

BMI will become the only airline to carry a fully qualified chef aboard, who’ll prepare meals in-flight for Business Class passengers.
The inflight entertainment will be state of the art. Aswell as all classes having 20 TV/film channels and 16 audio channels, passengers will be able to veiw what’s happening outside the aircraft due to the fact that there will be video cameras mounted on the ‘nose’ and ‘belly’ of the plane.

Yours,
Monkeyboy.
