Probably a load of old cobblers if its off there.

That forum has an excellent record of misinformation.

Germanwings crashes, EDI operations moving to Dundee,
anymore of note? 😉

I have flown with them once manchester to Cork. Flights were ok, delayed both ways a bit, but neither sector was that busy.

On a Baby related note, I see according to Jethros, they are leasing a 732 off EAL @ the moment.

They must be desperate!

They may have rushed into things as you say Dusseldwarf, what with the sizeable MME base and all. They should have fully established themselves at one airport before basing aircraft at others, especially when their routes were not guarenteed success, like at airports such as MME etc.
I’m sure they will sort it out though, and the Teesside base seems to be panning out well for bmibaby now, just the odd route, namely Belfast, which seems to be lacking a little in demand for 737 aircraft.

I think bmibaby went for too many bases in too short a space of time. Some of the routes seem strange to me too, Bordeaux for example – although I have no idea how that is going. I wouldn’t be surprised if their losses were around that figure, but this is just my opinion and not based on any facts. They have always just seemed to me to be doing things a bit rushed. Perhaps they didn’t want to lose out at the bases they have chosen and they have accounted for that and expected these losses, if they are real.

The bmi GROUP made a total loss of £9.8m in 2003, that covers all business units such as bmi, bmi regional, and bmibaby. The group turnover in 2003 was £772m.

The ‘facts’ on that A.net post are only partially correct, bmibaby does not have 31 aircraft, but they did carry 3m pax last year. I suspect the ‘profit’ figure quoted is for the entire group.

I think they have far too many non profitable routes that they should cancel and should have stuck with just operating from EMA untill they were more stable.Plus the fact that easyjet and just recently ryanair now operate from EMA doasent help the case at all!

LOL true LBA but in my opinion BMIbaby havnt a chance against Ryanair and Easyjet so I wouldnt at all be surprised to see the stopping operations.
