Bmibaby cabin crew are being taught basic Welsh to greet passengers from CWL in both languages. Not sure how many Welsh speakers fly with them to make it worthwile though!http://www.bmibaby.com/news

Until BA announce direct international flights from Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland I don’t think they should be called the UK’s national carrier instead they should be called English Airways

To be fair there is a direct EDI-CDG flight 😉

There’d be no room for them………….. 😮

Not in Cardiff on a Friday night, at any road. 😉

Oh, I know that Welsh is spoken in Patagonia etc.

But I had no idea there were that many overseas Welsh speakers.

We live and learn, eh?

Big Vince, the majority of people who are from this part of the world speak English over any other language. How many speak Welsh? Why not make the CC learn German for all the flights to Germany? Whats the point, most others speak English, why should we change when there is no problem.

I wouldn’t consider BA to be our flag carrier. OK, we’re a principality not a nation, but we’ve got an international airport and they don’t operate from it, meaning they can’t be our flag carrier. We’ve got our own flag, so our flag carrier should be AirWales.

Hehe yep i call them the same ere Grey, London Airways they are!
And don’t start the “principality” urgh i hate that word thingy, but i know wot u mean!
And i think VS regard them self’s as the UK’s flag carrier, but bmi have the flag on the fin aswell!

Or “London Airways”, as we tend to call them in these parts – remember that they only have one long-haul route (MAN-JFK-MAN) from a UK region. 😀

At risk of setting the cat among the pigeons, Wales isn’t a nation – it’s a principality. The flag of that principality is a red dragon on a green and white field.

Neither England, Scotland nor (parts of) Northern Ireland are nations, so no smirking at the back, there!

The national flag of Wales, like that of England, Scotland and (parts of) Northern Ireland, is the Union Flag.

Therefore, BA is the flag-carrier. Or Virgin, or bmi or whoever……..

I doubt it if half of Welsh people speak Welsh

As Mark say, most us who speak Welsh live oop north like i do, but the percentage of Welsh users is on the rise, and nearly half the language can speak it, over half say say some words but thats better than none, and yes danairboy, i agree with u there, that only Air Wales should be our flag carrier

Drop the flag BMIBaby, you are not the national carrier for wales. Only an airline like AirWales or previous Airways Cymru should display the Welsh flag/dragon.
