bmi’s Mumbai service starts 14th May departing LHR at 09:35, so I’d have thought that the A330 would be pushed to arrive in MAN at 06:05, be turned around, ferried to LHR and still be ready for a guaranteed on time departure for the first service to Mumbai – I presume that they’d not want it to be late given they’re likely to be doing a bit of PR around the first service. Either way, they’ll need the 757 to operate MAN-IAD Saturday at the latest, maybe even to operate the service on Friday.
So, anyone know (for sure) when ICE 757 TF-FII is due to turn up at MAN for bmi? And anyone know (for sure) what paint job it will have?

Apparently the 757 was 3.5hrs late in this morning. I’ve heard two versions of why from my contacts at bmi. One saying tech problems (not great for first week of ops is it!) and the other saying problems with passengers missing etc. Don’t think the latter would quite amount to 3.5hrs though!
Anyone heard how the first Mumbai went??? Can’t find anything out.

PS: I think it looks dreadful. Don’t think I’ll be doing any of my US trips via IAD this summer

If they re-do the rudder it’ll need rebalancing… I suspect it will stay like it is for now because the a/c won’t get much downtime

finishing the tail can’t be that much to ask? it’d be slightly more bearable if they did the jets blue too

Well it looks preety good considering.

Are we going to go for a short walk to MAN to see it arrive? 😀
By: Grey Area - 11th May 2005 at 16:19
TF-FII is expected to arrive at MAN at 19:35 today.
Yay….. 🙁
By: bmi-star - 11th May 2005 at 16:16
Ah well, RIP MAN-IAD 🙁

Informed sources tell me the MAN-IAD is on the Icelandair 757 from tomorrow (Thursday) – it should be positioning into MAN sometime today. Expected paint job is basic Icelandair with BMI logos on the front end and tail.

Tough decision, eh? 😀
Nothing definite yet, so I could be at Ringway after all. 🙂
But would you go down to the swamps of the south, and miss this historic occation? 😀

Hmm… yeah, probably. :p

I suspect you can look forward to a ghostly white 757 with a modest “Bmi” graphic applied somewhere near the front end ?
As per the ERJ they recently took custody of.
