Boat Race protester Trenton Oldfield must leave UK

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-23025311

Are they saying he’s got to leave the UK because he disrupted the boat race, even though he served 6 months in prison (which seems a little over the top anyway)? If so, seems somewhat extreme considering he has a British wife and child, and yet the likes of Qatada (that are real threats) are a nightmare to get rid of.

Any details on that, I do know it is a disproportionate ratio to UK offenders though?

Personally I’m more concerned about all the idiots who would like blow most of us up, those who feel that the UK is a great provider but an evil country, than some plant pot disrupting the ruddy boat race which in the national scheme of things not exactly of major importance.

I don’t think there’s any need for a comparison really, any immigrant who breaks the law should have their visa revoked.

The statistics for immigrants in the prison system is disturbing.

Unless there is more to it than we know, I couldn’t agree more.

This is what I wondered.

I’m glad they’re kicking this criminal out, there are plenty of legitimate avenues to protest about inequality and elitism, so there is no excuse for his behaviour.

The mind boggles at how these departments come to decisions. 🙁
The Laws are all on web sites, just google, but have a glass of water and a bottle of aspirin ready because you will have a hellava headache trying to understand what’s legal or not. 😀

These are just 4 cases of law abiding citizens, just trying to work hard and be happy.

I don’t know much about immigration laws but I thought that if you was married to a Brit you could stay here? Like I say I don’t know the intricacies of the law but I’m sure someone here can explain?

Look at all the undesirables living here we can’t kick out and they hit a low priority soft target like him.I am more disgusted by that than what he did in the first place.

Its not that they are hitting a low priority soft target. Its obvious that his visa was up for renewal, and was declined (as many others are which don’t hit the news.)
And the same thing will happen enough protests then, the visa will be granted.

No they are saying.
“We refused this individual leave to remain because we do not believe his presence in this country is conducive to the public good.”

Which to me implies that we don’t know what other activities he has been getting up too.

In other reports it is suggested that his appeal is likely to succeed and his deportation to be unlikely.
