Another from BoB film pilot Gerald Martin showing a Buchon at Hereford, year unknown to me but I would assume during filming.

Regarding the confusion of where the photo in my original post was taken, the confusion was mine and not Gerald’s. The image was titled “Buchon at Hereford” and I just assumed Hereford, UK. Come to find out there is a Hereford, Texas and that is the Hereford Gerald was referring to! I only discovered this because Gerald sent me a pic of the CAF Helldiver at a stopover in Hereford when he was ferrying it back to Harlingen. I knew the Helldiver had never been to the UK so I figured there must be another Hereford!

And, according to this site, still for sale:

That Spit in EN380s photo was either going somewhere far or just come back(Spain ?), it’s fitted with a slipper tank.;)
It is MH415/G-AVDJ. Spain and back.

Daz photo of the Spit and Buchon is probarbly shot in Texas. The Spit is the CAF’s NH238 and I wonder if the 1112 could be N109ME or the ill- fated N8575!

The Harold Kindsvater Buchon was a “Red 5” in the BoB film from what I have found, so this is a different bird. Still looking.

While most of the filming for BoB was done in UK there were one or two occasions when some of the air-to-air “rushes” were not perfect. Some episodes required to be re-shot. For this the cloud conditions had to be the same as on the original footage. The Film Fellers were prepared to take the whole shootin’ match as far away as Norway to replicate the correct cloud conditions. Whether or not they actually did this I know not, but I do know that the Met Office at RAF Mildenhall (yes, RAF – not USAF) did most of the air-to-air forecasts. I was there.

They went to Spain via Jersey. Ironically there is a picture in this evening local paper of a Buchon landing at Jersey airport in 1968.

Looks like the same Buchon in this pic:

Not the Harold Kindsvater Buchon, pre-incident, is it?

Thanks for the info gents. They do get snow in Texas and I suspect that Mark may be correct and the pic was taken Stateside post filming. I have no idea what Hereford looks like, or looked like, but the vast expanse of nothing beyond the Buchon very much looks like it could be Texas!

Chad,
Although I was basically on black and white then, here is a colour shot I took of the Confederate’s 109 at Washington ‘Transpo 1972’, their first sortie in mass out of Texas.
This seems to be your machine. Do they get any snow in Texas?
