This has come through from BAPC Secretary and is reproduced with his blessing:
A Boeing 727 has been offered free to a good home by DHL.
All you need is a runway capable of landing an aircraft of this size.
This is very urgent and needs to be agreed by the end of next week before its airworthiness runs out.
Delivery will also be free and the aircraft is in a cargo role so if you are interested, please contact me as quickly as possible.

Good to see a Coventry City Council “Good Citizen Award” winner posting about these parts again!
Congratulations Mr Smith!! :eagerness:
Thank you for your kind words TO – there’s been a surfeit of them!! It was a pleasant experience and somewhat humbling. Reminded me rather of what is joked about the OBE “other b*gger’s efforts”

How about Bruntingthorpe ?
Ok it’s not technically a cold war jet, although they were around during the cold war.
Paint it up in a camouflage scheme, and off you go.
The big plus point, they make lots of NOISE 🙂

The aeropark would be a good location for it. The tie-ins with DHL based there would make the move probably easier and they do have room

I guess the donations are tax deductable?
By: J Boyle - 20th September 2013 at 21:20
FedEx is also donating a lot of 727s, the only 727s we see around here. Usually they end up with trade schools, though one is at our airport where its used for non-destructive emergency training. I hear it may go to the Community College A&P school when it relocates in the future

Perhaps the DHL hub at East Midlands would be a good home for it parked next to the Argosy.
Is there any room left?

Don’t knock it, it is good to see a company acting this way to preserve some of their and aviations history at their expense too, they probably could part or scrap it, but rather than make a quick buck they have gone down the donate route, something the MOD could learn from re the VC10.

Cant sell it for part out or scrap??
