Boeing B747 Super Beluga!

Before you all start, this is a serious press release and not some photoshop design!

Boeing is going to build a new transporter plane similar to the Beluga to haul parts of the 7E7 around the world. The new plane will be based on the 747F. Boeing has nicknamed it the Super Super Guppy.

At least three 747s will be converted this way!

Matt, because of this Boeing won’t need thier own Ship! 😛
Thats the whole point. And it looks like that converted 747 is gonna be wide enough for larger fuselages sections too.

So who knows what it will carry, other than the 7E7.

If you ask me, having to build a special ship is just a waste of money.

I must admit that the aircraft is not as elegant as a 744 or a 346, but if it does its job, i say go for it. The beluga and Boeing’s new 744 conversion are different aircraft, but i would still love to see them in person:eek::D

Hey, thats a good idea. If you can’t beat them– Copy them.
Airbus have 5 Belgua’s by the way for transport of Airbus components between the member company’s.
Oh also I see reports in the weeekend press claim that the tanker deal (RAF) looks to be moving well towards AIRBUS.

It appears to have its tail enlarged. Maybe that is enough?

I don’t think it looks good, I would prefer the Beluga.

Monster !!! Any idea on the gross weight ?

HHmmm.. I’m surprised it doesn’t have additional vertical stabilisers on/near the ends of the horizontal stabilisers. Though they have a ventral extention on the second pic I suppose.

Looks great, far better than the A380 in my opinion. Although we’re not going to see this for several years yet.
