Excellent news for the B787 programme. The next major hurdle is delivering it to customers.

I was watching a test flight on flightradar24.com a few days ago. The test aircraft was at 40000ft at 565 kts. Very impressive indeed for it to be at about m0.9 its usually gulfstream territory. please correct me on my mach calculation if im wrong.

steve

Was the listed speed true or ground speed. If 565 was the ground speed than the actual true or mach would be different depending on the wind component at FL400.

Other 787 news…
They’ve started construction of the building to house the second 787 line in South Carolina.
It should be finished in July 2011.

Do you fly a lot then, Totty?

Not a huge amount, no. Maybe four to five flights per year.
I like to try out new aircraft, though. I’ve been on an A380, which was super, and will give the B787 and A350 a go as I get the chance.

I’m guessing that they have a really good idea on efficiency at this point. I’d love to know if actual performance is what they predicted.

Perhaps so, now that they have announced that the 789 will feature the same wing as the 788 without modification.

Excellent. It’s coming on nicely.
I’m looking forward to flying on it, now.
