Boeing & fast jets – does it have a future?

With F-18E/F approaching the end of production, & F-15 not going to last forever, what if any future does Boeing have in fast jets?

What are its options? Could it offer its expertise to one of the countries planning to build its own fighters, e.g. Turkey, & thus retain a foothold? Is there any possibility of it building a new private enterprise fighter, either for export to countries for which F-35 is too expensive and/or restricted, or perhaps with the hope of selling it to the US as an F-35 supplement? Or will it just abandon the sector?
