I’m surprised.
I thought, the “US101/HH-71” would win. Actually the decision happened last week, but it wasn’t to be confirmed until after the US midterm elections.
Good news for Boeing, but especially sad news for Sikorsky and its S-92/HH-92 programme!
But when 2 (HH-71 & HH-92 ) are fighting, the 3rd (HH-47) wins… :diablo: 😀
The main reason for this decision:
Boeing argued its HH-47 – based on the US Army’s special-operations MH-47G – was closest to Block 0 “out of the box”. The HH-47 was the largest aircraft in the competition, although Boeing was able to demonstrate it met the 2h disassembly and 3h reassembly requirements for air transportability.
