AMERICAN BOEING NEGOTIATING WITH RUSSIAN AIR CONCERN ON CREATING NEW AIRPLANE
The American corporation Boeing is negotiating with the Russian air concern Sukhoi about the creation of a new airplane that will be produced in Russia and exported abroad, said Alexander Vershbow, US Ambassador to Russia at a Moscow press conference.
Boeing is also interested in increasing its sales in Russia, he added. The company has already invested substantial sums in Russia’s air industry, it employs Russian specialists and creates a large number of new jobs in Russia, the ambassador stressed. All this leads to stimulating the Russian airplane building industry, he believes.
The ambassador called on Russians to “abandon the stereotypes”, according to which only one party wins in every deal. “We would like to create possibilities for all parties to be winners,” Vershbow stressed.

RE: Boeing-Sukhoi plan to develop new aircraft
Dont like the sound of that. This could turn out to be very very bad!
Currently Russia has taken away slots from airlines whichout Russian fleets fling to Russia right. Well the Government could create a bycot of Airbus by only letting the restrictionsgo if u have an all boeing and russian fleet!! WHat about the airbuses used by all airlines, pratically, execpt low cost airlines! easyJet wouldnt fly to russia!
And Boeing could get a bad name if this aircraft goes wrong!

RE: Boeing-Sukhoi plan to develop new aircraft
Russia badly needs to get rid of there bad reputation in the civil aviation sector. Actually in my opinion they are not putting an effort in the civil aviation sector. After the Il 96 nothing big has come, they put all there efforts and money in military aviation.

RE: Boeing-Sukhoi plan to develop new aircraft
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 28-06-02 AT 04:37 PM (GMT)]Thats good news.Russian aircraft manufacturers have wanted to shake of their old image in recent years to appeal more to the western world and so Sukhoi teaming up with Boeing seems like a good idea.
