Boeing Vs Ford!!

Ok – so its an oldish clip of a Ford Mondeo being blown by a VS744 at PIK(?), but it’s still fun to watch… was it PIK this was filmed at?

What I find odd though is why they blurred out the Virgin title from the tail in the clip – perhaps to safeguard the sensibilities of younger viewers of Top Gear?

Apparently (according to a collegue who has been) the sport at St Maarten is to hang on to the fence as a B747 gets to full thrust for takeoff and to try and get to 90 degrees to the ground without getting blown away! 😮

Cliff

Sounds fun – all i need is the money to get there 🙁

Kinda makes you wonder what a Virgin 744 was doing at Prestwick?

Surely not purely for the BBC.

Wow, very impressive. Why does that same thing not happen to people on the St Maarten beach?!

That’s a great clip – still see it sometimes on Sky (Now there’s product placement:D). I think it’s because they can’t endorse brands – when a Virgin aircraft had an emergency landing at LHR on Airport on the BBC, logos on the engine cowlings were also blurred out.

I didn’t see the clip when originally on the TV, but I would gues that the titles were blurred out at that point because its shown on the BBC, and therefore they cannot endorse brands. That CV took a beating though!

from the legand that is ricard hamster hammond heeh great clip. The virgin titles were on during the acutual show me thinks they have been coverd over by the guy who posted the vid on that site.

Actually, during the TV clip half the time the titles where blanked out and half the time they where not. Not quite sure why. Most obvious candidate would be to prevent claims of product placement (advertising). But then blanking them out half the time is rather stupid.
