Boeings rarity

Bit of a rarity in the paintshop at East Midlands……… ( EGNX) was dragged out for refuelling today so probably set to depart tomorrow or near too………

And a clue is this one is built by Boeing………….

Nothing like a bit of badge engineering.
DC-9/B717, it’s still a wonderful aircraft.

Technically speaking, the ICAO naming convention can either follow who actually designed it or constructed it or currently holds the design authority for it.
Fairly clear for most airliners but there are some crazy type/model mixes. Of course, if its your own file or titling on a photograph you can put whatever you wish.

Anyone who dares to refer to the DC-3 as a Boeing product needs a proper good slapping. That’s ignorance of the highest order!

As far as the 717 is concerned, it will never be thought of as a true Boeing product by me regardless of whose factory it’s built in.

The way I see it, McD screwed up. They bet the farm on the MD-11, failed miserably in the delivery of said product and bankrupted themselves.

Oh, without doubt. It’s hardly Boeing’s fault that their only domestic competitor pressed the “self-destruct” button.

Believe it or not, I’ve actually seen people (not Boeing) refer to the “Boeing DC-3”! 😮

The way I see it, McD screwed up. They bet the farm on the MD-11, failed miserably in the delivery of said product and bankrupted themselves. So they had to sell themselves off to Boeing.
Therefore, IMO, they rightly deserve to loose their spot on the side of the aircraft.
If I am not mistaken. this frame was built post merger, therefore it is a Boeing 717.

But yes it is an MD-95 with a Boeing badge on it!

It’s an MD-95 with a Boeing badge on it. :p

Surely you’re not one of these people who think that the F-15 is a Boeing design, too?
