Mark V, no my issue wasn’t with your particular Amazon link.

But maybe Key Publishing should give us some guidelines on this particular issue.

Robant,

You may be refering to my post with the amazon link. If so you will see that I confirm that I do not receive a commision. In fact I put that caption in light heartedly as I was not even aware that a commison could be obtained and quite frankly I do not care.

The reason for the link was simply to benefit anyone here wishing to buy a DVD player who was not aware that they do not have to shell out £100 or £200 for one. Nothing more than sharing info about what I consider to be a good offer.

Hi Robbo,

Gerry is talking about the Region 1 disc as posted by me above. He is in Canada! When I first read the post I thought he was talking about HMV in Edmonton, London, UK too.

By the way, welcome Gerry.

Hey Guys

I’m not sure why you don’t know but it has been released, I picked it up here at HMV in West Edmonton Mall in July or August sometime. Granted it was a special order but I have it now 😀 Great movie

Can someone make it clear whether or not those Amazon links are “affiliated” or not.

It would be a bit rich to use an affiliated link on another company’s website.

For the uninitiated, Amazon will pay a commission to anyone posting a link to a product using their own unique ID. That person would then receive a commission. It works by placing a cookie on the “buyers” PC.

Now I’m obviously in business myself, but at least I’m being honest about it by being clear about it in my signature – and not hiding it in an obsure manner.

I have the region 1 dvd, the quality seems fine to me and the most important thing is it’s in widescreen, I have a Panasonic dmre50 dvd recorder and a panasonic dvds35, I also have a cheap multiregional player, there is a big difference in playback quality between the cheap one and the Panasonic ones, so much so that I have abandoned the cheap player, after making back up copies of my region 1 discs (for my own use you understand!!). as a foot note it does seem rather stupid of mgm to release the film for the American market, haveing said that i will be buying it when it comes out here, so thay get my money twice…maybe thay are clever…. 😀
Another good site for multiregional stuff is………….

Check out the internet regarding making a DVD player multiregion. Many of them can be done via the remote and a specific keystroke, rather than being chipped. Panasonic cannot though.

Cheapest DVD player

This has got to be the cheapest DVD player ever. It is a multi region machine and available from amazon.co.uk for £39.99! Postage is free, it looks good (slimline design) and has very good reviews by customers who have purchased them. And no – I do not get a commision.

Here is the link:

The quality of the US disc is superb. No extras, but it was less than £10.00 including the postage.

There should be a documentary on the making of the film included as an extra on the Region 2 release next March, plus cast & director interviews.

I’m told the Region 1 version is very disapointing – no add ons (if that is important) but also not a very good reproduction of the film itself.

This is my all time favourite film – I watched some of it being made up at Dux in the late 60s and well remember sitting behind the facade of the “Chateau”.

I think I’ll wait for the Region 2 version though.

Hello ,
Yes I know that, but who this times stay with a unmodified DVD player (saloon or PC)??

You lost a immense production so easily available….

Regards.

It’s released!!!!!!

Hello all,
Hope it’s help you for Christmas shopping.

Battle of Britain

Category : Movies / DVD

Author : Rated: G

ISBN : B00008PC0Y

Description : There’s something about this film that’s so irresistible, despite its grandiose manipulation. Maybe because it recounts the greatest air battle in history, achieving the greatest aerial battle in film history. Maybe because it has such a terrific cast (Harry Andrews, Michael Caine, Trevor Howard, Curt Jurgens, Laurence Olivier, Nigel Patrick, Christopher Plummer, Michael Redgrave, Ralph Richardson, Robert Shaw, Patrick Wymark, and Edward Fox). Maybe because it’s so technically well-made, thanks to the Bond team of producer Harry Saltzman and director Guy Hamilton and the great cinematographer Freddie Young. Or maybe because there is something truly riveting about watching the British kick the Nazis back to Germany. –Bill Desowitz
