I spotted this in Airliners.Net today.
http://www.airliners.net/open.file?id=565501
To say the angle of attack is extreem is an understatement. Surely this is photo-shopped? Additionally, if you read the text this was taken from 3,500′ and allowing for lens distortion surely this would pose some sort of collision risk.
Comments?

Provided you’re not messing with air traffic and you have permission, I’m sure it’s possible. I was flying with someone in their Piper Cherokee 2 years ago and we flew directly over SNA, then promptly landed there.

It is not impossible to fly very close to LAX with some small Cessna or something.

Looks good to me.

I would think that KL’s A330’s would have GE’s and not Pratts like the one pictured.

I had no doubt that the first photo mentioned was authentic.
But I ahve my doubts over this one! Photoshopped?

With a huge tripod……………
If you work on golf OB’s you can get a 200ft tripod in the form of a huge crane. Not for the faint hearted or incontinent I might add. 😀
Golden Showers at St Andrews is not an uncommon occurence. 😮

From all that has been written this photo apparently may not be ‘touched up’.
However my point was that this almost vertical shot of the departing ‘heavy’ seems to show a climb out of more than 45 degrees which is obviously impossible and must be some quirk of camera or light. My immediate reaction to seeing it was: “No way!”.
I wish that Sam was on this board to enlighten us.

I dont think its bogus…he (Sam Chui) is a highly respected photographer and i dont think he can post bogus pics.
I was about to say exactly the same thing! He has many photographs on that site, all of a great quality. I don’t think he would want to ruin his reputation by posting something fake.
By: greekdude1 - 5th May 2004 at 17:17
Any photo taken by Sam Chui IS NOT bogus. He’s one of the most respected photographers on any of those photo sites. He takes pics everywhere. As far as the question about the undercarriage, it has just been retracted, with the nosewheel doors still open.

Very nice!! I have no doubt it is real. You can see that the a.net photo was taken v. shortly after the jetphotos one.

The picture is authentic.
I’ve seen enough edits to be able to tell most of the fakes apart from the authentic ones. The Lighting o nthe airctaft, in conjuction with its surroundings is flawless, it fits. The curvatuve of the upper wing surfaces are also acurrate.
Everything about this photo tells me it is authentic and that this Sam Chui is one very lucky person!
He’s on a different continent every other day! Man he must have money.

Now I’m no expert in such matters, but if you enlarge the picture and take a look at the starboard wing trailing edge between the engines, I would expect to see much clearer definition.
Just a thought.

The angle fo attack doesn’t look THAT bad at all, looks normal in fact
