Thanks, Andy!
You truly have a gem there, in that she (9048) was an operational aircraft, with BOTH Eastern & Western Air Command. Wonderfully accurate bio, on the Filton site.
We (VWoC) have a Mercury running from our hangar upon a Nation Steel Car-built Lysander, so the “Empire”-era industry here, is well-represented in the air.
Now if they’d only send the bloody Pegasus back to us… :dev2:

Bravo for the Bristol Aero folk for preserving 9048 as a BCATP “Boly”.
Thanks Canuck. 9048 is an early Bolingbroke, and it operated in the anti-submarine role with 8 Squadron RCAF on the east coast of Canada from November 1941 to January 1942, and then on the west coast and Alaska up to Mid-1943. After that, it joined BCATP as a trainer like most Bolingbrokes. As such, it will be going back into its 8 Squadron markings rather than BCATP. A summary of 9048s history appears on the BAC website at http://www.bristolaero.com/bolingbrokehistory.htm.

This is wonderful to see. I was involved in the early stages of the Mk. IV-T at the CWH, here in Canada.
Literally container-loads of parts were sent to the UK, only to see them become “Blenheims”, and then crash detritus.
Bravo for the Bristol Aero folk for preserving 9048 as a BCATP “Boly”.

Thanks Moggy,
Coincidentally, I’ve just been emailed the July 2010 Bolingbroke 9048 restoration update, so I will be uploading it to the Bristol Aero Collection website in the next few days.

Thanks for posting this Moggy. A little known Bolingbroke restoration project outside of the UK that is. They are really doing a great job on the aircraft.
