Bombay 'L5816' of 216 Squadron

Greetings All,

Bristol Bombay ‘L5816’ of 216 Squadron was lost on the 19th October 1940, while taking part in one of a number of raids centred on Benghazi. Any of you chaps out there have any details pertaining to the aircrafts crew.

Regards
Eric

Jeez. Imagine being sent to war in a Bombay 😮

Oh I dunno… there’s always the crew of the Vickers Valentia in Iraq that rolled the bombs out of the door onto enemy troops before

Probably not as suicidal as it sounds…..the Germans weren’t in Africa until 1941.

Does anybody know any more details; presumably the Bombay was lost on a conventional (night?) bombing operation?
