Just to remind everyone that “Meet the Bomber Boys” veteran signing is due to take place THIS Saturday 6th April 11am – 4pm at the Wings Museum.
Yes we know it is the same day as Shoreham. but this event is meant to compliment Shoreham rather than compete with it. Why not buy your books, prints etc and get them signed in the afternoon by the “Bomber Boys”. The Wings Museum is only 35 minutes from Shoreham Airport and the signing is running until 4pm.
So far we are expecting 12 Bomber Command Veterans some of which we are please to welcome for the first time. We also have two 617 Dambuster Squadron Veterans, also John Bell who flew the original “Thumper III” which the Battle of Britian Memorial Flight Lancaster is now painted to represent. We are also delighted to welcome Joe Lancaster who flew Lancasters during World War Two and also made the first ejection seat escape from a Gloster Meteor. There are a number of yet unconfirmed veterans who may turn up on the day to add to what is already an impressive gathering of Bomber Command heroes.
So come on, it’s for a good cause and is in aid of “Operaton Up Keep” of the Bomber Command Memorial. Hope to see you there!
P.S. The Wings Museum will also have a stand at this years Shoreham Aeromart so for directions and a leaflet please visit our stand.

I am pleased to report “Bomber Boys” held at the Wings Museum on Saturday 6th April was a huge success with the museum completely packed out. A total of £1,631 was raised in just a few hours for the Bomber Command Memorial. A stressful but most enjoyable day and as always a real privilege to spend some time with these gentlemen. Thanks to all those who attended – a few Forumites were spotted amongst the crowds!
ITV news reported the event – link here>

Also an update on the museum website including a list of veterans present on the day.

That makes a total of 14 “Bomber Boys” and still counting!! Hope we can fit everyone in and hopefully the weather will warm up a bit to give our heaters a fighting chance!

Sounds great and I wish you well. Just to be accurate, Jo Lancaster’s first ejection escape was from the AW.52 flying wing, not a Meteor.
