Does anyone remember the BBC drama about bomber command filmed at East Kirby with the Lanc there, had flashbacks back to WW2 and was set in modern day with an aircrews son finding out who his actual dad was? Was a few years ago but very good, wouldn’t mind trying to find it on DVD

‘Night Flight’ was great for it’s creative use of Just Jane, but I didn’t think much of it as a drama- it was all far too bloody miserable for me!

Apparently if the BBC gets about a thousand queries for something to be put on dvd they’ll do it, so maybe if we all send off an e-mail? I’ll send one off in a bit

As far as I am aware, it was never released on dvd or vhs so the only way to see it is to find someone who taped it off the television at the time and may wish to lend it to you. Unless of course you contact the bbc / production copy and enquire if a copy could be made. I doubt they would do this though on a one off basis.

Cheers, was definitely Night Flight though, the pictures on the Christopher Plummer website made me sure of that. Does anyone know much about Night Flight, for example i’d be interested to know where they got the Thornycroft Amazon lorry with the crane on the back (could swear I saw it in the background of one scene, possibly lifting something up near the Lancaster in front of the hangar?)

I wonder if you mean a series called Believe it or not, It was about a dutch chap who went all queer when he had any thing to do with the RAF, How he was connected with airman killed over Holland I do not know but it appeared there was a weird sort of explanation, A few of my old school mates were involved in making the film at East Kirkby, supplying WW2 uniforms and vehicles and had a great time, how-ever when it came to the payment that was promised it was not forthcoming, I believe they did get payment after a long struggle. You could ask Fred Panton, he would be bound to remember since they were using his Lancaster.Hope this is a help to you.
