I’m proud to say that Colin was my Dad’s navigator on 578 Squadron. They were life long friends from meeting at OTU until my Dad passed away last August.
Dad was a Pilot on 578 Squadron, and he maintained he had the best aircrew on the squadron. apparently they were among the most accurate when it came to pinning up the target results on the board, and his gunners were among the highest scoring when it came to gunnery practice! Yet none of the aircrew fired their guns in anger in the whole 39 ops of their tour! Despite a heinkel and a junkers passing by or over them on a couple of occassions!
