Hi there,

My copy of AP1086 shows 6D/789 as a vent valve manufactured by Manley and Regulus (with their p/n or model number 1075)

The ref numbers don’t always run consecutively so a Sec/ref number higher or lower won’t always mean a continuation of the same equipment.

Hope that helps

Regards

Dave

Very kind one Eighth bit, it is missing form John’s 1945 stores book too, Were they using nitrogen for fire prevention or tyre inflation etc around that time? I will see if I can see when the Air Ministry became defunct.
PS love the bit about spherical nipples , immediatly reminded me of an old girlfriend for some reason.

My 1960’s AP stores list doesn’t contain 6D/789 but shows 6D/787 as an High Pressure Nitrogen reduction valve and 6D/788 as same but low pressure.

That fact 6D/789 is missing leads to me think it was by then obsolete so yes, could be WWII or just after. The part number is what makes me guess it’s part of a reduction valve at least.

6D/790 is where the listing for spherical nipples starts.

Based on the AM number (6D/789) I’d put a guess that it’s part of a pressure reduction valve, possible nitrogen.
