good points thanks , black paint not always outside skin as iv’e found out before, Iv’e found the same inspectors stamp and numbers on it in a couple of places now.

It looks more like a cable or wiring cover from inside an aircraft to me.
Intakes and intake ducts are often double-walled and have a rounded intake lip.

Too long and has a flanged end on it to be the under wing vent fairing from the leading edge cabin heating system

I was thinking along your lines but when you look on plan this duct is very narrow and the duct on the top of the Hercules is about 10 or 12 inches wide, I’m beginning to think it might not be an air duct but a cover for something else.
If the flanges at the fat end were dressed back out to 90 degrees it would look less like a streamlined duct.

You might be right Ivor , I’m looking at pictures of all types from Stradishall from Wellesley through to Lancaster but no luck yet although that pencilled lettering may mean Lancaster?

Thanks Ian , I have been looking at images to try and pick out the panel on various aircraft but not yet pinned it down. It is a distinctive shape . I keep coming back to somwhere around an engine assuming intake as it wouldnt handle the hot exhaust. The piece is from Stradishall.

If the pencilled number SW313 is the aircrafts serial? then the part could be off a Mk.1 Lancaster 1 of 9 that was sold to the Egyptian Airforce in 1950.
