[updated:LAST EDITED ON 22-07-02 AT 03:12Â PM (GMT)]”Do you like scary movies???”
Okay, okay this could sound a little dull but just for fun is anyone interested in sharing their views on horror movies/novels?
I’d like to ask 3 main questions for you to think about:
1) What is your favourite scary movie/novel?
2) What in your opinion is the best scene from a horror?
3) If you were to write a horror novel or direct a horror movie, what would be your inspiration?
The reason for this thread is that I just watched “The Lighthouse”, in my opinion one of THE worst movies in this genre. I was thinking about past movies and thought about this thread. Hope you don’t mind answering.
As for myself???
1) Fav’ horror has got to be the old classic “The Omen”…simple yet as scary as hell…and very worrying.
2) How about the opening sequence of “Urban Legend”, the old “garage in the middle of nowhere with a weird attendant” situation with the very excellent twist of “THERE’S SOMEONE IN THE BACK SEAT!!!”
3) I actually wrote a horror novel in college which was selected to be published in the “Young Authors” publications…nothing came of it though. It was an old fashioned “There’s something in the woods” story about a bunch of loggers who get stranded in a large forest area in the US, they have no means of contact with the civilised world and don’t trust one of the team. The untrusted team member is forced out on his own while the others try to get to some form of town/village. Suddenly one by one each member is picked off at night and just when everyone suspects the ousted gent’,they find his mutilated body…half devoured. Turns out the team is being stalked by a pack of wolves who have been driven mad by the chants of an old Indian Shamen who ends up on their dinner plate himself.
What do you think???

The Thing, both versions are amoung my favourites.
The scene I think is most memorable is from the 1982 version that always pops back into mind whenever CPR is mentioned……..CLEAR 😉

event horizon type films now they arre the real horro movies – they give you nightmares and scare the ##### out of you. but i’ld say films like schindlers list are equally sacrry and horrifying.
films like scream are so not scarry. as we’ve said before every american can have so many diffrent guns. to the rest of the world it apperar that at least every family has a shotgun with many having pistols in draws and many poeple with uzis, ar-15s, etc – then you get scream with 1 gun used badley. i find films like scream, i know what you did last summer, etc very boring as – its america where is your arsenal of small arms ???

Fav. Horror movie – The Shining
I saw it as a kid and it really freaked me out for days. Jack Nickelson was just awesome.

Horror?
Well, in different style:
Aviation: Hot Shots, i’m horrified about their stupidity
General, all with Van Damme, it’s also horrific.
French: most movies with Sophie Marceau… She lacks a brain, but unfortunately, she rarely dies in her movies (for non french here, she played the bad girl in one of the latest Bond movies)
Apart of that, I don’t like horror movies.

Saw Resident Evil last saturday… it was cool! Zombies, mutants, Mila Jovovich, it had all the quality stuff.
I like horrorflics a lot. I can see stuff like Braindead, the Living Dead series, or bizzarities like Event Horizon and such over and over again. Preferably with a beer or so within reach.
Eight Legged Freaks is great fun too if you’re into 1950s-pulp.
