The long weekend gave me chance to get out and visit a few more museums, the first of four being The Boulton Paul Heritage Centre at Wolverhampton.
I first visited some years ago when they were just starting out, and has now changed quite dramatically.
They weren’t actually open last Friday afternoon, but as there were quite a few of the volunteers working, I was allowed in, and was made to feel extremely welcome. A couple of the guys gave me a personal guided tour, answering questions and telling stories, which made the visit one of the most memorable I have made in some time.
I recommend a trip here to anyone who may be heading for Cosford, as they are only a few miles apart. I believe they are open most Friday afternoons and Sundays.
Thanks again to Cyril and the guys for a great afternoon, and for the mug of tea! 🙂

Spiteful21,
The biplane is a reproduction they have built over a good few years of the P.6, which, if I remember correctly, dates back to the 1920’s.
It was taken to the most recent Paris Air Show, and generated a great deal of interest. It may not be the real thing, but it certainly is very convincing.
Couple more shots for you.

Septic,
I believe they only acquired the two battered cockpit sections and are having to build the rest from scratch.
The second cockpit is being used (so I was told) to build up the instrument panel, which will then be transferred to the rebuild.
Its great to see another ‘forgotten’ type being resurected.

On the subject of Balliols, wasn’t someone trying to bring one back from Ceylon recently?
J man
Does Sri Lanka have any additional ones to spare? There is one at the Museum and another at the Recruiting center – so has to be one of the two?

Thanks for posting TMN,
Its good to see that the Balliol is now coming together, do they have a set of wings for the project or will they have to scratch build them.
Septic.
