I reproduce here, unashamedly, a post from another forum from the organiser of the GA flying day for badly burned children. One small example of the massive generosity of GA pilots here in the UK
So that was twelve aircraft, two helicopters,33 kids and 21 adult carers. the green cub started it all at 11:00 and looking at my records all kids had flown by 11:45!!!!!!
How did all that happen then?
Straight into bonus country
From then on we were cruising until the weather and “things” brought the event to its natural close at about 2:30pm
The helicopters were going like the clappers and we had a job keeping up with passengers.
The green cub and the yellow cub. were just wonderful to see gently completing each task and it was really nice to see all those aircraft operating so efficiently against the background of that Brilliant, Fantastic, Superb, Majesticly Stunning sky yesterday and of course gliders everwhere above you.
I must admit its is rather nice to hear Robs (Jet Ranger) engine slowly starting its almost alive as it sings its way into life, also love to hear the 310 rumbling into position always have liked the shape too.
It was so nice to see all of you guys yesterday, you all did a stunning job which made mine a lot easier.
You know we applauded the pilots but nobody thanks the machines
here goes

There’s probably one next year – ground handlers who know their way around aircraft, and competent, experienced pilots are always welcome.

Lovely story. Any more photographs?

One of the two Cubs in the better part of the day (weatherwise)

But it didn’t always stay that way.
I didn’t take many pictures with the kids in. I hope you’ll understand why. However here’s a couple of them watching G-PEAK shuttling another three guests.

Hopefully the local press gave some good coverage to all these very worthwhile events. It would be nice to see GA getting some favorable coverage, as normally it only makes the news in an unfavourable way through accidents, noise complaints and the like. A very well done to all who organised and partipated in these events.
Meridien had a piece on Friday apparently but I missed it. I gather there was a large red aeroplane in the picture but the real stars of the day were the people that organised on the ground. The flying was the easy bit.
Dick Richardson deserves a massive vote of thanks on the Popham one.

Good to see this, Dick Richardson at Popham had a day the week before for the Starlight Foundation. This is for terminally ill kids and carers and about 250 turned up. As well as the aeroplanes there were two helicopters, busses, horses a hovercraft, some chap turned up in a Ferrari and gave rides in that and loads of bikers came in and gave Harley rides. One of the aircraft came all the way from France for the day and another came over from North Weald and flew almost non stop.
Harrods also supplied toys for all the kids. It was a very rewarding and fun day.

A good friend of mine participated in the Bourn event.
He found it all particularly moving and worthwhile – having children the same age as some of the most badly injured brings home the severity of the damage that has been inflicted on these children very pointedly.

Reminds me of a day I helped out with at Norwich last month, 76 disabled kids were flown around Norfolk.
Aircraft were supplied free of charge by Chalky and Gail White (C172 G-OTAM), Nigel Willson (Robin G-CCCN) and Anglia Flight (C150s G-BUCA and G-BABD). Landing fees were waived by Norwich Airport, fuel was supplied FOC by Air BP and food was supplied by Happy Landings bar and restaurant. The whole thing took place from Hangar 10. A completely worthwhile day and a rare example of a regional airport and GA cooperating.
