Does anyone know if this is right? Has the BPE been named? I can’t find it on the Spanish navy BPE web pages –

Ahhh yes now I remember, like our Adelaide Class are different to the OHP’s. IIRC your Santa Maria’s were wider in the beam where as ours were longer to take the Seahawks (a move later retro-fitted to the American ships).

Yes, in fact, Santa Maria is the name of F-81 frigate (OH Perry derivatives, “Santa Maria” class in the Spanish navy).

Yes, the FFG class in Spain was called Santa María Class, and the first ship of the class, F-81 received the name of Santa María, this pic is in the early 80´s before the delivery of the frigate, still in Bazán facilities.

Does the Spanish navy ever consider the name “Santa Maria” as a usfull name? That name has a very long and proud history behind it.

The ship has no name to date. Aragón once again?. It is a possibility…people who christen our ships seems to work with a short name list, despite Spanish Language is a very rich one and we have a long History.

L-61 will be the right number.
The name, is possible, we had a pair of amphibious ships called Castilla and Aragón, Castilla now is an LPD, and Aragón is free for the new ship.
