Brad Pitt has joined the ranks of Walter Matthau, James Stewart, Steve McQueen and Harrison Ford as Hollywood actors who have spent time at Bovingdon.
He is presently preparing for his role in ‘The Fury’ a WW2 movie about a Sherman tank crew in the final weeks of the war, and he has been taking tank driving lessons on the airfield. A substantial set of a German village is being constructed on the site of the old oval banger track, which was itself on the remains of the SW-NE runway.
This aerial film shows the film set, and if you know where to look, the roof of the very bust-up control tower, half hidden in an earth embankment.

There are two locations, the other is the main one with only the town scenes at Bovingdon.
So I take it the location of the other ‘main’ scene is known to you?
Is it a ‘top secret’ location that you cannot divulge to us, or are you happy to spill the beans?
I had the opportunity to fly over Bovingdon June/July and there was no scene setting activity started at this time as I have a clear image that I took of the area.

So does that mean they have built another set at this other location?

Not really as the Tiger scenes are filmed at another location.

Nice, so on that basis the Tiger would move from Bovington to Bovingdon to Bovington. Got a nice ring about that line. Hope the delivery driver doesn’t get muddled up though

The Bovington Tiger will be used in the film. There is also a a bit of a Kelly’s Heroes link as Clints boy Scott is in the film.

Considering he’s up in the turret, I’m thinking that Mr. Pitt isn’t driving.

I wonder when someone would notice :p
Oops 😉
Why don’t you knock it off with them negative waves? Why don’t you dig how beautiful it is out here? Why don’t you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?

You don’t mean Kelly’s Heroes do you?

Layout reminds me of the Dirty Dozen, half expect a Tiger in the square pointing at that building with the arches on the front 😀

Oh dear.
Another Hollywood ‘epic’ that I must make a note to avoid.
