Prompted by Propstrikes magnificent piece and mindful of the Forum’s constant reminder not to waste space by repetitive extracts from previous contributions, we could extend Propstrikes theme by introducing templates for most subjects and identities.
For example: My first contributory template is for the typical Forum user well known to us all.
He is (almost always male) by nature calm, contemplative, thoughtful undemanding and unaggressive.
His favoutite dress is a woolly cardigan, carpet slippers and he sucks a pipe
He does not possess a bitter, twisted, warped or agumentative bone in his slightly corpulent, occasionally flatulent frame.
He is so emollient that he doesn’t need soap when taking a bath.
His favourite expressions are: “Everything will turn out right”. “All things being equal”. His favourite profanity is: “Goodness gracious me”.
I’m sure we all recognise the standard Forum contributor from this description.
If the Forum is interested we could turn this into a commercial enterprise. Imagine:
Templates for the trenches in WW1
Aircraft designers agonised deliberations
Boy meets girl drama in WW2 Blitz
And so on. Imagine, TV producers could buy and then ‘pick & mix’. Perhaps others on this Forum could add their favourites.
