Hi gang!
I´m currently dragging myself around Brasil 😀 and ever keen to see what this part of the world has to offer aviation wise… I have a question…..
I vaguely recall a story that Rolls Royce purchased an airworthy Spitfire and ´gifted´ it to Brasil, as a sweetner to a major engine contract a few years back. I think with Pratt or G.E. threw in a P51 for their part.
Is this true, does the Spit fly… and where is it? Mark12… any info?
If it´s at the MUSAL Museum in Rio, I might be able to take a couple of snaps in the next few weeks……
Thanks

Spitfire Mk IX MA793
APC140,
My last report was:-
First test flight in Brazil. 10 minutes. Rolls Royce test pilot Phil O’Dell at Jundai, prior to formal hand over by Rolls Royce chairman to TAM at San Carlos scheduled for 16th May 2002. Still flying on US registration.
So Jundai and destined for the museum at Sao Paulo is the best I can do.
I will investigate further.
