Brass bomb/depth charge component?

Are there any ordnance experts around? It came from a Whitley VII equipped with ASV and crashed in 1941.

I can’t place it on the Whitley – it’s brass, the flange is 8.5cm in diameter and the inside is threaded.

As it’s brass it might have come off the glycol tank or maybe one of the radiators but I don’t recognise it – maybe some here does?

The other posibility is it was part of a bomb or depth charge…. The ordnance was dealt with safely at the time and nothing remains today.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

Blimey Martin – that’s quick! Don’t suppose you have a drawing?
