According to http://www.agestado.com.br. Brazilian AF re-opened the FX contest, increasing the expenditure to USD 1,0 billion. Interesting is that there are only two contenders…..Dassault Rafale and Su-35…and the latter with a strong supporter, the President.
The plan is to create two additional air defense groups, on the North (Amazon Region) and Northeast (Atlantic Coast)…..moving the recently purchased Mirage 2000 (probably additional M2000s will be purchased as soon as they become available, afer being replaced by the RAFALE in French AF) from Anapolis AB to make room for the new FX.
