Sadly alot of Indian and South Asian passengers in general are not travel smart or travel educated and do alot of stupid stuff on flights, that leads to stuff like this.

As was already indicated just hours after the plane returned, the people are not terrorists. They will all be released tomorrow.
During the whole “incident” Schiphol felt no need to take additional safety measures. No additional police, security checks etc. The anti terrorism autorities where informed, but quickly dismissed it already yesterday. Strange that noone seems to have mentioned that to the non-Dutch media.
As for the Boston lady quoted as saying: “I don’t know how close we were, but my gut tells me these people wanted to hijack the airplane.” Well, she is American… paranoia rules supreme in that corner of the world.
And as for some of the men being of “South Asian ethnicity”, well on a flight bound for India this is hardly surprising now is it?

Does anyone have an update on when the NW DC10s are being retired?
I think I saw the other week on www.justplanes.com that the retirement has been expedited, so that all DC10s will be gone by January or February 2007.
