Myself and several other Military Vehicle owners were supposed to be taking our vehicles to the airshow for the weekend as part of the display. I got a phone call today, from one of our group, to say the event was cancelled due to flooding at the airfield.
Has anyone else heard anything about this?

The organisers have asked me to let everyone know that the heavy military vehicles have indeed been cancelled due to concerns that the weight on the very soft and wet grass could cause problems – sorry for the confusion Vultee35. So far every thing else is going ahead as planned. If I hear more I will let you know.

I would think it is more likely U/S as the Mew Gull is still on the list to attend and I believe that is also based at Breighton.
Not U/S, i belive Taff just has bigger plans for her;)

This could be why ‘Susy’ has been scrubbed off the latest Legends list.
I suppose she could also have gone U/S though!
Cheers

The FLY-IN was still on as of this morning, the runway is not brilliant at the moment but it is useable. Obviously the airfield has taken a thorough drenching and, if the rain returns with the same fury as last weeks deluge we’ll need to re-look at the situation. Anyone participating, as fly-in guests or exhibitors, is advised to contact the airfield next week and keep checking the RAC website (The Bugle page).

Vultee
The event on the 1st July was cancelled, from their website;
“Heavy downpours this summer have seriously affected much of Yorkshire and Breighton is no exception with much of the corral, barbecue area and hardstandings currently under several centimetres of water.
With more rain forecast the Classic Aircraft Aerobatic Competition planned for the July 1st has, regrettably, been cancelled in order to preserve the runway at Breighton”
One of the guys who works there is a friend of mine, I’ll drop him a line, I did mail him last night to see if things were drying out which they are, would have thought he’d have mentioned it last night, I’ll see though.
