Excellent stuff! You can never have too many Mustangs, and this one looks superb. 🙂

I’d venture to say you would see more of the ‘real thing’ in a book :dev2: …but have passed the news on to Brendon in any case.

Hey, that’s a real special for us Kiwis too! Al Deere’s plane! I shall have to make a pilgrimage at the right time.
By: DazDaMan - 17th January 2005 at 23:27
Ooh, I shall have to keep watch on this development, especially as little seems to be going on with that other Spit Mk1 (G-MKIA).

Any info on what model the Mustang restoration is?
By: Manonthefence - 17th January 2005 at 23:20
Ok then if they are prepared to sign the paper work mountain off then. You know what I meant!
By: David Burke - 17th January 2005 at 23:18
Errr- The CAA are prepared to accept your money for registering an aircraft as such. If it does actually exist or is entirely a figment of your imagination is for their inspectors to determine when you invite them around to see the project as such
and start the ‘paperwork mountain’ off !

So would I be correct in assuming that this ‘Spitfire’ when it takes to the air, will be a complete new build reproduction Spitfire with a straightened out data plate from a hole in the ground, that will be rivited to it.
If the CAA are prepared to accept that it is a Spitfire then its good enough for me. I assume you always think the glass is half empty 😀

brilliant love to see that Spit up and about
Good news but you will have to be patient for this.

I have always wanted to see a Spit painted as KL-B it would be nice to see this one doe as such.
So far from home! I fancy you’ll get to Susy quicker than to see the La-9 🙂
By: Chipmunk Carol - 17th January 2005 at 22:46
I do believe I have the original template for the nose art for Susy at home.

Or was this a more substantial long term stored partial or substantial wreckage with rebuildable components..??

Hi all
So that should cheer all you Pommie Buggers up – been right grouchy last few weeks and with all the doom and depression that things weren’t picking up in the display scene etc etc I was starting to worry about you all and send over a barge load of mogadon or something.
The UK scene is definately picking up a bit and the new arrivals can’t hurt – I reckon a new wave of sucess at Duxford and the UK in general is not far off.
Will they all be at Leg Ends this year? Have to get hopping on the Spit!!!
Regards

In a way there is a potential BoB Memorial Flight based there. After all the Me109 and Hurricane were both sides workhorse in the conflict. Put a spitfire in formation with those two examples from Breighton (albeit the Me109 is actually a Buchon) and then you have another BBMF 😀

R4118 an this spit could do a great tail chase if ever together
By: stewart1a - 17th January 2005 at 22:18
yup two aircraft in BoB colours would be nice
By: F3Hadlow - 17th January 2005 at 22:16
Nice One 😀 That is brilliant news. Looks I will be attending (attempting to!) every event there again this year 😀 😀 Certainly makes up for the loss of the spitfire.

brilliant love to see that Spit up and about, plus Susy what a great idea
By: Manonthefence - 17th January 2005 at 22:12
Ha so thats what they bought then 🙂
The 3rd para is some very interesting news, I really look forward to seeing that one.
