Breighton photos, 30 May

Had a very pleasant day out at Breighton today, first time I’ve visited, what a wonderful place. Seemed like a lot of people braved the forecast and chose to fly in, plenty of variety. Anyhow some of the more historic examples

loose women in your cockpit.

I rarely fly without one 🙂

Anyone who has ever done aerobatics knows that, as part of the pre-aero check, you have to check for loose women in your cockpit.

Because it’s pornography of the aeronautical kind! 😉

The pictures will be on realaero.com via the Bugle page in a few days time. ‘The Shuttleworth of the north’ – we rather prefer to think of ourselves as the ‘Vulture Squadron’ from ‘Catch the Pigeon’!

Hi Janie – met you briefly – you won’t want my pic of the Chippie/Maggie flypast after seeing the one posted on here!! I did get it though and we’ll show it on our website very soon, nice to put faces to names.

Good to meet you too. I certainly look forward to seeing the pictures – would that be on www.realaero.com?

I heard one person describe Breighton as “the Shuttleworth of the North”. I think that is a well deserved complement. It is such a wonderful atmosphere, like a private garden party. A real gem.

photos still seem OK to me (pbase is paid for webspace so bandwidth isn’t usually a problem), anyone else having problems?

Falcon – well yes I did take a few more. 😀 They are up at http://www.pbase.com/gareth_horne/breighton if you want a look, better not post them all here, this thread must be getting too big for those poor soles still stuck on a dial up connection.

If you want any higher resolution versions just PM me.

Davski – what a wonderfully civilised way to enjoy old aeroplanes, just added the July dates to my diary 🙂

Great pictures, glad you enjoyed the day – thankfully the rain stayed away until the very end. Content for July’s fly-in is still unconfirmed except to say that we’ll be flying all the home team (including the Buchon, Spitfire and Hurricane), and we anticipate flypasts by the BBMF trio. Hopefully the Mustangs will pay us a visit too – touch wood. Hi Janie – met you briefly – you won’t want my pic of the Chippie/Maggie flypast after seeing the one posted on here!! I did get it though and we’ll show it on our website very soon, nice to put faces to names.

Gareth. Thank you for the extra pics of the Chipmunk. I was a bit worried to see my passenger holding on to the combing. I thought he had control!!

To anyoene else: Take a look at Gareth’s website. He’s got some wonderful pictures of other stuff besides aircraft.

AJ – no the buchion did not fly, the fillets between the tail and fuselage and wings and fuselage are still missing, as are all the access panels. Still waiting for the CAA paperwork too apparently.

Thanks for everyone’s kind comments, a few more I’ve sorted out

Well have I got a :)silly grin:) on my face, or what!

Full credit goes to my passenger who had the controls during the formation with the Magister. Unfortunately, there is no room in his Spitfire PR19 for me to have a return favour.

Super pics though. Thank you. A truly wonderful day out (followed by a dash down to London to stand behind the camera as it filmed the Hurricane Engine emerging).

Thanks! Certainly was, arrived about 10:00 (4th car in the public car park!) flying was just starting, and continued virtually non stop until I left about 15:30 as the heavens opened. All that for just a fiver, got to be the best value around.
