A very quick half dozen images from today as I clear the cards for Sunday. Some fantastic flying, and great photo opportunities for everyone. This really has to be the best value airshow on the circuit, and not a noisy jet in sight 😉 . Looking forward to tomorrow when I’ll be able to stay to the end 🙂

MH434 headrest
The headrests were associated with the early marks. I would say the majority of flyable Spitfires today do not have one.
I was fortunate enough to be upclose and personal with 434 in the evening of the Sunday Legends display and noticed that the headrest was suffering a bit. The leather sides were a bit tatty exposing the innards. My guess is OFMC have either removed it completely or they are refurbing it.
Excellent photos by the way Gareth, i really must get up there too!

Thanks Gareth – does concentrate the mind getting several tons of aircraft onto 800 metres but the Corsair is first class for the job.

I’ve noticed that PL965 often flies without one, but can’t think of any others.

thanks everyone, missed your landing Saturday I’m afraid Cliff as I was up by the control tower at that point, here it is on Sunday though 🙂 (PM me if you want a high res jpg of it emailing)

Looks a huge aircraft on a small grass field like Breighton, much more impressive than half a mile away at Duxford 😀 Thanks for making the trip up north!

Thanks to all who have posted pictures – as you say a very pleasant airshow in all respects.
I was flying the Corsair and the pictures will provide an excellent record for me. If there are any more of dropping the FG1D over the fence for landing (a time for concentration !) then they would be much appreciated.

I have a video clip of you landing on Sunday – I will send you a PM with the url so you can watch it over the ‘net once I have uploaded it.
Thanks for a great display.
Gareth – superb images – looking forward to seeing more.

Who knows. I cant imagine it needing to be serviced much but is it not very comftable flying without it? Has anyone on here ever flown a Spitfire without one? Do you spend much time with your head on it?
I had not actualy noticed it untill you mentioned it was missing and i went back and looked.
