By way of introduction, as a new member to the forum, my name is Toby, I live near Newbury in Berkshire and I have and engineering background.
I have joined the forum because I’ve received an unusual birthday present in the form of a very sad looking plexiglas dome which with the assistance of a post here on this forum I’ve identified as a Bristol B17 Mk1 cupola.
Links below show it fitted with twin Hispano 20mm cannon and it would be mounted on the mid-upper station of either an Avro Lincoln Mk I/II or the Shackleton MR1.

I would welcome any advice on how to clean and patch what plexiglass I have and would you know where i might source the rear hatch quadrant (which is largely beyond repair) and any other parts, large or small ?
I would like to offer this relic a respectful home now it has been saved from an allotment…

That’s a Lincoln Top turret cupola The plexi looks in poor condition so a cosmetical cleaning would be best. I am not sure if it could be repaired or polished but I am sure other members with plexi experience will be along shortly to help.
The plexiglass is covered in general moss & mold from it’s past 57 years sitting in a vegatable patch. It’s appearance isn’t helped by a good coating of frost.
I’m hoping that this cold weather will lapse into the usual British winter, damp & miserable” so I can try a gentle application of mild soap & water and see what is actually looks like under the grime.
I doubt it will ever be a thing of beauty again but we can but try…

If anyone has any tips on cleaning plexiglass beyond tepid mild soapy water and “soak – don’t rub” the grot off and then rinse with lots of water I’d be be grateful.
Similarly does anyone know of any good places to look or suppliers of “aero spares” ?
