Hi All,
This might sound like a dumb one (mind you I’m a Crazy Yank),
But are the main/or center sections of the Beufort and Bolies the same and do they use the basic Tail assembly.
The reason I ask is because a friend and i were looking into possiable converting a Bollingbroke fus. into a Beufort or Beufighter.
Thanks CrazyMainer:D

In fact, there are very few parts which are common to the two aeroplanes. I was originally under the impression that the Beaufighter and Beaufort do share some assemblies – tail assemblies being the ones I was interested in – but having measured and checked the mountings and positions, they are also both different animals.
🙁
The original plan was to use Beaufort wings and tailfeathers with a new design fuselage. That probably explains why the Beaufighter took longer than expected to design and build.

Crazymainer – in short, no, the Beaufighter fuselage is completely different to the Bolingbroke. The Bolly / Blenheim is a very square section, while the Beau cross section is almost egg-shaped.
As for the centre sections, these are also entirely different. Main immediate difference is that the Beau incorporates four cannon and an access hatch (with a second hatch for the Nav in the rear fuselage section), while the Blenheim / Bolly has a bomb bay.

Sorry it’s not the response you wanted to hear. 🙁
