Filton Airfield is dead – long live Filton Avenue.
Recently I noticed what appeared to be a new or revised pub sign in Filton Avenue, Bristol. The Bulldog pub I thought had a canine connection as can be seen on the facia board title on the pub frontage. But the traditional hanging sign shows otherwise. The pub was closed when I stopped to take the photos so I don’t know what theme, if any, is displayed inside.
The pub is only a hundred yards or so from the Blenheim in brick, a photo of which I had previously posted on the forum. Blenheim Court. although a relatively new building, was looking a little unloved by the residents.

Unless its changed I would avoid it. They eat their dead in there!

When I lived and worked in Bristol in the 1970s, the pub was the Bristol Bulldog. Name spelled out in full, and unequivocably the aeroplane.

What a neat idea. For me, though, that Blenheim looks worryingly like a Ju.88…;)
